A Teacher’s Mistake

A special education teacher bought a large supply of candy to have on hand to reward her special needs students when they do something great-which they always do. She got a good deal on large packages.

Then one of the students was walking down the hall and another teacher asked, “where did you get that candy?” The special needs student replied, “from Ms X (name hidden to protect the almost innocent).”

So the hall teacher went to see Ms X. “Why, Ms X, would you give a special education student AIRHEADS AND DUM DUMS?”

Ms X was very embarrassed, she had thought she got a good deal. She had not thought of the ramifications of the name of the candy.

I have to tell this story. A teacher told me this. A little boy in the cafeteria came over to the teacher and asked, “is she a virgin?” The teacher said, “what do you mean?” The little boy, with his face covered with spagetti from lunch, said, “is she a virgin? She never eats her spagetti or her chicken.” The teacher says, “Ohh, you mean, is she a vegetarian.”

The grandkids love those four wheelers. They scare me some. But I know Trevor is a good driver, and he will take good care of Jonathan. I hope at the end of the month, when he gets his permit, he drives cars as well as he does 4-wheelers. I can hardly believe it, my oldest grandchild-driving soon.

I was honored to hear this powerful music at Blissdom09. I also got to meet two of the artists there as well, Nathan Pacheco and Ender Thomas. We are so very blessed to have such awesome musical talent around us.

“On March 24th, multi-platinum recording artist Yanni, released “Yanni Voices,” his first studio album in 6 years! The album started out on top, debuting on Billboard’s Top 20, and fans of every musical taste are doing a double take and embracing his ‘voices.’” This quote was from One2One Network

Why Would a Grandmother Want to Learn How to Speak Spanish?

Costa Rica

Well, all the kids have their own families, homes, things to do etc. So it’s time for me to start traveling. Many of the places I want to go to are Spanish speaking areas…Like Costa Rica for example. Besides, there are many people speaking Spanish in the United States. It would be good to know what they are saying. I might want to join their conversation Click here to read this story…

I hope you enjoy this. I sure did!

He Hits, He Runs, He Slides Home!

I really enjoyed watching Parker in his very first baseball game. He is the youngest and shortest one on his team. The others are 5 and 6 years old and he is 4. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

STOP SMOKING-Save The Kids!

Stop smoking-you are killing the kids! That’s what I want to tell my daughter, her husband, my other son-in-law, my son and his girlfriend, and everyone else. This is probably the one thing in life that stresses me most. Every time I hug my grandchildren, and smell the smoke in their hair, and on their clothes, I just want to cry. How could their parents harm these precious beings and/or allow others to harm them? I wouldn’t think they would stand by and allow someone to harm the kids with a weapon. But they do. Cigarettes are deadly weapons! And to those addicted to tobacco, that have children, I wonder if they ever think of the kids when they put that cigarette in their mouth and light it up. Which is more important to you, your cigarettes or your children? Click here to read the entire story…

Can Blue’s Clues Help Find The Tub?

I bought a fancy tub on ebay, and it was shipped from China.  My “good deal” turned out to be a money sucker because it cost a lot of money to have it professionally installed.  My plumber was not happy that the instructions were in broken English, many of the parts where made of plastic, and they don’t use the same traditional sizes and parts as the plumbers in the US use.  Very quickly, things started not working, and before long I realized that buying a bathtub on ebay was not a good idea.  This became really clear when you could not shut off the water unless you turned it off from the valve inside the wall.

So we called the plumber to change out the tub.  He took the tub out, and before the new one was installed, there was just a big empty space in the bathroom.  During that time, my four year old grandson, Parker, came over.

My husband took Parker into the bathroom, and showed him that the tub was missing.  I wasn’t back there.  I saw Parker in the kitchen looking around very intently, and I asked him what he was doing.  He said he was looking for Blue’s Clues.  What?  “I’m looking for Blue’s Clues to help you find who stole your bathtub.”  He was quite serious!  My husband had told Parker that someone stole our bathtub, and so Parker was going to help us find it.

I was trying not to laugh.  I asked him what kind of clues he might be looking for.  He said, “Maybe soap or water or bathtub toys or something like that.”  His seriousness was making it very difficult for me to remain composed.

This went on for quite awhile until he had to leave to go home.  He told us he would return to continue the search.  A few days later he came over and resumed his search, and I had to tell him that the plumber took the tub because it was broken.  Parker said, “Well, is he going to give it back?”

I laughed so hard about this.  He was so very very serious about the whole thing.  A few days ago when I saw Parker at the store, he very seriously asked, “Memaw, did you ever get your bathtub back?”

I like the fact that Blue’s Clues is teaching these children to use their analytical skills to find answers.  Who knows, maybe Parker will be a detective when he grows up.
