Can Blue’s Clues Help Find The Tub?

I bought a fancy tub on ebay, and it was shipped from China.  My “good deal” turned out to be a money sucker because it cost a lot of money to have it professionally installed.  My plumber was not happy that the instructions were in broken English, many of the parts where made of plastic, and they don’t use the same traditional sizes and parts as the plumbers in the US use.  Very quickly, things started not working, and before long I realized that buying a bathtub on ebay was not a good idea.  This became really clear when you could not shut off the water unless you turned it off from the valve inside the wall.

So we called the plumber to change out the tub.  He took the tub out, and before the new one was installed, there was just a big empty space in the bathroom.  During that time, my four year old grandson, Parker, came over.

My husband took Parker into the bathroom, and showed him that the tub was missing.  I wasn’t back there.  I saw Parker in the kitchen looking around very intently, and I asked him what he was doing.  He said he was looking for Blue’s Clues.  What?  “I’m looking for Blue’s Clues to help you find who stole your bathtub.”  He was quite serious!  My husband had told Parker that someone stole our bathtub, and so Parker was going to help us find it.

I was trying not to laugh.  I asked him what kind of clues he might be looking for.  He said, “Maybe soap or water or bathtub toys or something like that.”  His seriousness was making it very difficult for me to remain composed.

This went on for quite awhile until he had to leave to go home.  He told us he would return to continue the search.  A few days later he came over and resumed his search, and I had to tell him that the plumber took the tub because it was broken.  Parker said, “Well, is he going to give it back?”

I laughed so hard about this.  He was so very very serious about the whole thing.  A few days ago when I saw Parker at the store, he very seriously asked, “Memaw, did you ever get your bathtub back?”

I like the fact that Blue’s Clues is teaching these children to use their analytical skills to find answers.  Who knows, maybe Parker will be a detective when he grows up.

My husband and I were at a meeting with David Dutton from http://howtheyrecruit.com. Actually it was a great internet marketing class. On the way home, we got pulled over by the police. We had no idea why, and they seemed to take forever to come up to the door to tell us why they pulled us over. Finally the officer said we had a headlight out. Oh, ok.  What a relief!  He still wanted to see my husband’s drivers license. He said he would be right back after he “ran” the license.

He was gone a few minutes, then suddenly he shined a light in my window and tapped. I rolled down the window, and he asked if I was Sharon Parker (which I was, before marrying John). My husband said, “No, she’s Sharon Cole!” The officer said he needed to see my drivers license because he had a warrant for the arrest of Sharon Parker. I was a little shook up! I asked what the warrant was for, and he said forgery. A warrant for forgery? Can’t be for this grandma! I’ve never forged anything in my life, not even a sick note in school. He looked at my birthday on my license, and decided that it was not me. Apparently the warrant was for someone else’s grandma, because she is nine years older than me. Whewww.

So I told my sister about this when I got home, and she called me jailhouse grandma! Can you believe that? What if I had not taken my purse with me? I don’t look good in stripes!

Parker is sooo funny! He loves Crystal Light and I love the FLIP!

Grandma, Granny, Memaw, Nanna, they all have the same heartfelt meaning and feel. One word describes how we feel about our grandchildren-LOVE! We all have stories, video, or audio we can share with each other, and I hope you will share yours on this site.
