STOP SMOKING – SAVE MY GRANDCHILDREN

Stop smoking!  You are killing the kids! That’s what I want to tell my daughter, her husband, my other son-in-law, my son, and everyone else. This is probably the one thing in life that stresses me most.

Every time I hug my grandchildren, and smell the smoke in their hair, and on their clothes, I just want to cry. How could their parents harm these precious beings and/or allow others to harm them?

I wouldn’t think they would stand by and allow someone to harm the kids with a weapon. But they do. Cigarettes are deadly weapons! And to those addicted to tobacco, that have children, I wonder if they ever think of the kids when they put that cigarette in their mouth and light it up. Which is more important, the cigarette or the child?

When I was little, my parents smoked. But a lot has happened since then. Today, everyone knows the hazards of smoking…both first and second hand smoke. There are plenty of products out there to help people stop smoking.  Click here:  I Want to Quit Smoking Today for help.

Even though, as a teenager, I tried smoking, I hated it, and never developed the habit. So why do MY children smoke or allow smoking to be part of their lives? Did I do something wrong? Is there anything I can do to stop the insanity? Is there anything our government can do to save our children?

My children know how I feel about smoking. Sometimes I think they smoke or allow smoking around them, and their children out of spite, because they know how strongly I feel about this. Yes, it hurts me, but who is the real victim? Them and their children!

I continue to pray that somehow cigarettes disappear. I had hoped that the recent increase in the cost of a pack of cigarettes might do the trick, but it has not. Sometimes I wonder if there is a breaking point…a point at which cigarettes become so expensive that people will stop smoking. Or does that just drive smokers further into their addiction, because they are determined to smoke at any cost-even the cost of their lives or their children’s lives.

Finally the government started helping the situation by not allowing smoking in some restaurants. Most restaurants previously had smoking and non smoking sections. What were they thinking? Some places I could not even go into because of the clouds of smoke that permeated MY space, my skin, my lungs. Wayne Dyer conveys the message very clearly when he says that “having a no smoking section of a restaurant makes no more sense than having a no peeing section of a public swimming pool.”

Recently I heard that there is a bill in Tennessee that they are trying to pass that makes it illegal for people to smoke in a vehicle with children 8 and under. Although I was pleased that our government is trying to do something to help the kids, why 8 and under? I have a grandson that is 14. Is he not worth saving…to the government? He sure is to me!

Not long ago, that same grandson underwent surgery for nose polyps. I did some research on it, and emailed the facts to my daughter prior to his surgery. In that research, I found that many nose polyps are caused by toxic air, and that until the environment changes, the probability of continued respiratory problems is high.

Hmmm, my daughter, her husband, his mother, many of their friends, all smoke. Imagine all that smoke in a 1080 square foot house with six people. Or in a mini van with two smoking parents. How much does he have to suffer before the parents decide to save his life…even if they don’t want to save their own lives. I pray for all of them.

I remember going to the OBGYN doctor with my daughter when she was pregnant. The doctor asked her if she smoked. She admitted she was a smoker. But I was surprised that the doctor did not go into the health risks of smoking with her. Why not give her a brochure that shows all the things that can happen to a fetus or to an infant subjected, helplessly, to toxic air?

It is obvious that I failed her—failed to convince her that she needed to stop smoking. And it became obvious to me that the doctor didn’t have any more concern for that unborn child than my daughter did. I have spent many hours crying about my inability to convince my family members to look into different Stop Smoking Techniques …for their sakes and the children.

My grandchildren have gone to the doctor’s countless times for respiratory illnesses. Once, I was with them and the doctor asked my daughter if anyone in the house smoked. My ears perked up. I thought maybe the doctor would have the magic words that would finally hit home to my daughter that would make her children’s lives more important than that next cigarette. But no, it was just a question.

And it is not just that daughter with four children that breaks my heart due to smoking. My other daughter has two children. She does not smoke. But her husband does. Does she stop him from harming the kids? No! Does he smoke in the house and in the car? Yes! For some reason, smokers seem to think that if you have the window down, no smoke permeates the car. That is just not true.

This son-in-law lost his mother not long ago. Since he knows how it feels to loose a parent, I wonder if he can relate to the pain he may be deliberately causing his children to incur. Even worse, what if he caused harm to his children and had to watch them suffer? I pray he sees the light, and realizes he needs to Quit Smoking Today for his sake, my daughter’s sake, and their children’s sakes.

But I have three children and yes, my son smokes. His long time girlfriend also smokes, and she has MS. Imagine that, both of them are making her condition worse. I pray for them as well. They have no children, but it is a shame that they are addicted, and can’t seem to find Ways to Stop Smoking .

It is difficult to go visit any of my three children’s homes, because of the toxic air that hits you in the face when you enter. I bought them all an air purifier for Christmas one year. My daughter told me that was the worst Christmas of her life. I don’t think any of them used it.

When a smoking parent says they love their children, I don’t doubt them. But they love their cigarettes more than their children, or they would not be deliberately putting their children’s lives in danger. They can get help to stop smoking if their love for their children is strong enough. They could try getting a Stop Smoking Hypnosis mp3

So I was wondering how many other grandmothers feel the same pain as I feel for my children and grandchildren. Do you pray that the tobacco makers stop making cigarettes, and find a use for tobacco that will not harm our children and grandchildren?

And until that happens, do you pray that President Obama will find ways to legislate changes to protect those that cannot protect themselves? After all, our government spends billions to help children in other countries, should we not be helping children here in the United States as well?

My dream is for all smokers to Stop Smoking with mp3s or some other stop smoking technique…and make themselves, and their children’s lives more important than that next cigarette. America, please, save OUR children! OUR grandchildren!
